Police: New Hampshire Man Tried to Facilitate Prostitution While 7-Year-Old Was in Vehicle

Police say a New Hampshire man was caught trying to facilitate prostitution while a child was in his car.

Thirty-nine-year-old James Nesbitt of Rochester faces charges of promoting prostitution and endangering the welfare of a child.

Hampton police say they started an investigation in late January after monitoring online activity for prostitution, and for the next two months, an undercover detective communicated with another person about setting up a sexual encounter for money.

When the detective arranged a meeting on March 25, Nesbitt was identified as a person bringing another person in order for the latter party to engage in prostitution. When officers approached his vehicle, they discovered a 7-year-old child as a passenger in the car.

Nesbitt taken into police custody by Rochester police on April 15 after Hampton police's investigation lead to an arrest warrant.

He was released on personal recognizance bail and is set to appear in court on May 17 in Seabrook.

It's unclear what the relationship is between Nesbitt and the victim.
