Police Officer Pleads Not Guilty to Stealing $11K From Police Association

A Massachusetts police officer accused of stealing more than $11,000 from bank accounts belonging to a police association plead not guilty to larceny charges Friday.

Fifty-six-year-old Ipswich police officer Michael Thomas was released on personal recognizance, but was issued a bail warning, which means he could be held without bail for up to 60 days if he gets into more legal trouble during his pending case.

Thomas, who is on administrative leave, allegedly stole the money from two bank accounts that belong to the Ipswich Police Association between July 2009 through September 2013; police say he was a secretary and treasurer of the association from 2006 to 2013.

His next court date is Oct. 27, and he's being represented by Ernest Stone.
