Police say a 19-year-old was struck and killed by a drunk driver early Friday morning in Brockton, the ninth fatal pedestrian accident in the city so far this year.
Brockton Police Sgt. George Khoury said Trequel Bradsher was killed when he was hit by a car while crossing the street in the area of 215 West Chestnut St. around 2:30 a.m.
"I said, 'Don't go out of here,'" recalled the victim's great grandmother, Martha Bradsher. "He went out anyway."
The crash happened one hour after their conversation.
"He loved everybody on this street, everybody," said Martha Bradsher of her great grandson. "He thought everybody was his family."
The driver of the vehicle, Brian Perkins, 22, of 28 Clifton Ave., Brockton was charged with motor vehicle homicide and operating under the influence of liquor.
Perkins reportedly told police he had a few beers earlier in the night. Police say he failed to recite the alphabet correctly and that the result of his breathalyzer test was .10.

He was arraigned Friday in Brockton District Court and his bail was set at $10,000.
It's the ninth fatal pedestrian accident in Brockton this year. Back in September, Trequel Bradsher's teacher, Carl Yancey, was killed in a hit-and-run accident.
That case remains unsolved.
Brockton Mayor Bill Carpenter last month ordered empty police cruisers to be parked on busy streets to get drivers to slow down. The state has also said it will install electronic caution signs in the city.
