The Middlesex County District Attorney's Office says the victim, a 50-year-old man, was taken to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries. His identity has not been released.

A preliminary investigation reveals the man was crossing Watertown Street near Aldrich Road at 8:30 a.m., when he was hit by a silver SUV.

The female driver stopped. She was taken to the hospital for a stress-related medical issue.

Traffic was heavy at the time, but its unknown exactly how fast the driver was traveling.
