Police: School Psychologist Didn't Report Sex Assault Claim

A student told the psychologist a teacher allegedly assaulted her

A Cranston school psychologist is accused of failing to report a sexual assault allegation.

George Blessing turned himself in to authorities Tuesday afternoon. Attorney information was not immediately available.

Police say the 48-year-old Cranston West High School psychologist failed to report that a female student had told him that she had been sexually assaulted by a science teacher.

The teacher was later identified as Charles Pearson.

During the course of their investigation, police say three other female students came forward and told them that they too had been assaulted by Pearson. The alleged victims range in age from 14 to 16.

The 58-year-old Pearson has been charged with 12 counts of second-degree sexual assault. It's unclear if he has an attorney.
