Two missing boys were found safe in Boston's Mattapan neighborhood Friday through the work of a single Massachusetts state trooper.

One boy, a 7-year-old, had wandered from his home on Norfolk Street in Mattapan about 6:20 a.m.

A trooper spotted a child matching his description at around 10 a.m. while working a detail on Gallivan Boulevard, state police said. After a search, authorities located the child and brought him home.

The boy's mother told NBC10 Boston when she came out of the bathroom at about 6:30 a.m., her son was gone.

"I feel so badly. I feel so bad," she said. "I've been taking a bath and when I left the bathroom I didn't see him. I looked for him everywhere in the house."

The boy's mother said she doesn't know why he would just take but she's just thankful he's home safe.

"I just want (him) to know that I love him," she said.

The same trooper, Brian Donaghey, that found the boy had located a missing teenager just minutes before, according to state police.

At around 9:15 a.m., Donaghey and another trooper were approached by a motorist who said she may have spotted a 14-year-old child reported missing by police, state police said.

Donaghey and his partner spoke to the teen and confirmed he was the missing child. They called Boston police, who transported him to school.
