Police in Massachusetts are searching for a suspect in an alleged sexual assault that occurred midday Sunday.

According to Arlington Police, a woman was attacked between 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. on the Arlington/Cambridge line near the Route 2 underpass in a wooded area behind the Alewife Brook Reservation.

"The victim is courageous," said Arlington Police Capt. Richard Flynn.

Police describe the suspect as a man in his 20s. He reportedly weights about 150 pounds and is about 5'5", with brown eyes and black, braided hair. He was believed to have been wearing black corduroy pants, a red belt, black boots, a dark blue jacket and a blue beanie hat with snowflakes.

Pedestrains and bikers who often use the walkway there say it's typically a pretty safe area.

"It's atrocious." said Louise Reist who regularly uses the path for walking and biking.  "it's upsetting."

Arlington Police are asking that anyone with information to please come forward and assist the police in locating the suspect.
