Search Continues for Elderly Woman in Waltham

Sara Laroche was last seen on May 25 at 5 p.m.

Police are asking for the public’s help to locate a 73-year-old Waltham, Massachusetts woman who suffers from early onset dementia.

Sara Laroche was last seen on May 25 at 5 p.m. when she left the area of Brook Ave in Waltham for a walk.

Her son, Gene Laroche, said that their family moved from Miami only one day before his mother's disappearance and she doesn't know the area.

Before Florida, the Laroches are originally from Haiti.

"It is bad for us, but we just believe in God," said Gene Laroche. "That is why we still stay strong - because God can do all things."

Now, more than 100 police officers are searching for her along with Laroche's family and members of the community.

One local woman, Kate Finn, said that "a lot of police are on bikes, and the helicopter [is] going around."

Some people are handing out flyers and a command center was established at a nearby school.

"We are a community and we look for people," said Sheri MacDonald, who is part of the search for Laroche. "We help each other."

Laroche is described as an elderly Haitian female 5ft 6in, 120 lbs, with brown eyes and gray hair.

She was last seen wearing a long blue skirt, white sweatshirt and a Black knit hat. A surveillance video with footage of her walking down the street in this outfit has been released by authorities for the public.

She is believed to be on foot traveling in an unknown direction.

Anyone with information on her whereabouts is asked to contact Waltham Police at 781-314-3600.
