Teen Missing from N.H. Boarding School Found Safe

Authorities say a teenager missing from a New Hampshire boarding school has been found safe.

Fish and Game officials say that 16-year-old Julian Hofstetter was found on an island in Island Pond on Thursday afternoon by a K-9 - Jackson - who picked up his scent on the shore and swam 370 feet to the island. Jackson then alerted his handle to Hofstetter. Conservation officers paddled out to the island and escorted him off the island.

Hofstetter, who is from Newark, Delaware, had been missing from the Hampshire Country School in Rindge since about 8 p.m. Wednesday.

Officials say he used a canoe on the shore to reach the island. They say he was tired and hungry but unharmed.
