Police Seeking Suspect After High-Speed Chase, Crash

Officials say Osvaldo Negron put the car in reverse, nearly struck one of the officers and led police on a high-speed chase.

Providence, Rhode Island, police say they're looking for man who got away from officers after a high-speed chase that ended with a crash in Warwick.

Police officials told WJAR-TV that officers pulled over 23-year-old Osvaldo Negron of Providence shortly before 2 a.m. Sunday after he drove onto a sidewalk on Pennsylvania Avenue. Authorities say officers smelled alcohol while talking with Negron and saw an open beer bottle in the car.

Officials say Negron put the car in reverse, nearly struck one of the officers and led police on a high-speed chase. Police say Negron crashed in a front yard in Warwick and ran away.

Police say Negron will face charges including felony assault and reckless driving.

Anyone with information on Negron's whereabouts is urged to call Providence police.
