No Arrest Yet in Mattapan Double Shooting

Investigators are still searching for information in a double shooting that left one man dead in Mattapan Sunday morning.

Officers were called to the area of Osceola Street and Hopewell Road at around 4:30am.

Two men were shot. One died at the hospital, according to police. He was in his late 20s.

A memorial is growing at the scene. People have placed candles and a stuffed animal to memorialize the victim, along with the message, “RIP DIC3,” written on the sidewalk.

"We had a pretty active Fourth of July weekend and from that point up until last night, we were pretty quiet in the city of Boston,” said Boston Mayor Marty Walsh. “Very few shootings. No homicides. It’s unfortunate what happened last night."

Walsh called it an “isolated incident.”

The other man is expected to survive.
