Police: Suspect Escapes After Hours-Long Standoff in Boston

The search is on for a man police say is wanted for violent crimes who escaped a standoff situation in Boston's Roslindale neighborhood by dropping about 20 feet out of a third floor apartment window.

The incident happened on Brookway Terrace Monday night. Boston Police were trying to serve a warrant on the suspect for assault and battery charges and his alleged involvement in a robbery that resulted in a stabbing.

Boston Police Deputy Supt. Bernard O'Rourke said, “The individual did enter the apartment. Our officers, we had secured but apparently he jumped out of the window from the third floor and took off. We found this out afterwards from someone who had seen him do that."

Police allowed people back inside their homes after the unidentified suspect escaped, but neighbors we spoke to were on alert.

One person who lives nearby said, “I was coming home from swim practice and I was riding my bike, stopped to ask what was going on. They told me to get out because something was going on. I felt scared because they were pointing guns at me. I didn't know."

According to the Boston Globe, two women and four children related to the suspect left the building unharmed and didn't cooperate with police.

No injuries have been reported.
