Police Investigating Unattended Death of Woman in Mattapan Neighborhood

Police said the death is likely medical in nature

Boston Police are investigating an unattended death of a woman in the city's Mattapan neighborhood.

Police initially said they were investigating an assault and battery because when they arrived to 2 Bismarck Street at about 3:30 p.m., the door of the home had been broken down. Authorities said family members later told police that they had broken the door when they hadn't heard from their relative.

Authorities said there were children at home with the woman during the time of her death.

Police said the homicide unit will hold the case pending the outcome of an autopsy but the death is likely medical in nature and is not considered suspicious.
