Police Warn of ‘Felony Lane Gang' in Maine

Police have urged residents to call 911 instead of confronting suspected gang members

Police officials in Bath and Winslow warned residents this week that a dangerous group of thieves who specialize in car break-ins has made its presence known in Maine.

The Bath Police Department and Winslow Police Department posted warnings on their Facebook pages on Monday and Tuesday about the loosely organized, Florida-based "Felony Lane Gang."

Police say the group targets vehicles parked at gyms, parks and day care centers to rip off unsuspecting victims' driver's licenses, personal checks and credit cards. The gang then recruits women who look like their victims to cash the stolen checks.

Bath Detective Marc Brunelle says he's seen evidence that the Felony Lane Gang may have recently started operating in Maine's mid-coast area.

Police have urged residents to call 911 instead of confronting suspected gang members.
