2 Killed in Van Crash on I-495N in Merrimac, Mass.

4 others were hurt in the crash

Two people died and four people were injured when a van rolled over in a crash on I-495 in Massachusetts Thursday morning.

State police say the crash happened just before 7 a.m. on I-495 northbound, just south of exit 53 in Merrimac.

While the cause of the crash is still under investigation, troopers are investigating whether one of the van's tires blew out.

The van had six males inside at the time of the crash, according to state police.

One was ejected from the van during the crash and pronounced dead at the scene, while another van occupant who suffered serious injuries died at Lawrence General Hospital.

The four other van occupants, who were all seriously injured, were taken to Anna Jacques Hospital, Merrimac Valley and to Lawrence General Hospital.

Details about the deceased and injured were not immediately available.

State police were helped at the scene by Merrimac Fire and EMS, Amesbury Fire and MassDOT.
