Power Outages Likely as Wet, Heavy Snow Quickly Ends

Exceptionally wet, pasty snow is clinging to everything Monday morning, after falling at the rate of 1-to-2-inches per hour at times overnight.

Many towns have picked up 6 inches or more.

This heavy snow is resulting in power outages Monday morning, but the snow ended by 9:00 a.m. across southern New England. The snow will be lasting a little bit longer in parts of Maine.

Along the South Coast, Cape Cod, and the Islands, keep an eye out for some big puddles early Monday morning since the snow changed to rain.

The sun actually pokes out later Monday, which will combine with temperatures near 40 to create some melting and mostly wet roads once the snow ends. Watch out for that slush.

Much colder air arrives by Tuesday, with highs only around 30 despite sunshine.

The middle of the week is even colder, with single digits and teens in the morning, and 20s by afternoon.

Temperatures do moderate by next weekend, but our pattern turns more unsettled as we "spring forward" Saturday night.
