‘Property of Taylor Swift': Boat Fire Considered Suspicious

Firefighters were called to Napatree Point in the Watch Hill area of Westerly on Tuesday morning after a resident reported a boat fire

Officials in Rhode Island are investigating after an abandoned boat with graffiti on it went up in flames.

Firefighters were called to Napatree Point in the Watch Hill area of Westerly on Tuesday morning after a resident reported a boat fire.

Officials say the 38-foot cabin cruiser was abandoned July 9 after losing power and running aground.

The Westerly Sun reports the boat had graffiti on it with the words, "Property of Taylor Swift." Swift owns a mansion on Watch Hill.

Crews from Watch Hill and Misquamicut fire departments extinguished the blaze with portable pumps that drew water from the ocean.

Officials say the cause of the fire is considered suspicious. Westerly police are investigating. The U.S. Coast Guard and the Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management have been notified.
