Cool, Gloomy Monday With Showers Before Tuesday Warm-Up

After an absolute stunner of a Saturday, the last weekend of April 2018 ends with scattered showers -- great movie-watching weather.

The system that is bringing the showers and cooler air for today will linger into Monday, but then once it finally exits, we will be on our way to a summery midweek warm-up.

Before we get ahead of ourselves, the rest of today will feature on and off showers, some steady to heavy downpours at times. High temperatures today will only be in the mid to upper 50s, 40s north. Overnight tonight, temperatures slip into the mid to upper 30s for the interior, with 40s closer to the coastline under mostly cloudy skies as the showers continue. Some showers could mix with some flurries mainly in the higher elevations of western New England, as we have cold air aloft, but those will not stick. Monday features a slight cool down with highs struggling to make it into the low to mid 50s under mostly cloudy skies with scattered showers.

We turn the page to a new month, and to a new pattern on Tuesday under mostly sunny skies and highs in upper 60s and we don’t stop there with the warmth. Summer-like weather returns Wednesday and Thursday with highs around 80! The last time we’ve seen 80-degree highs was last October, nearly 200 days ago!

Thursday, with an approaching cold front trying to knock out the summery warmth, we could see a few showers and storms Thursday late afternoon for the interior, otherwise, the rest of the day remains dry and sunny.

Friday remains on the warmer side with highs into the 70s with another batch of showers and storms possible late.

The first full weekend of May features a chance for lingering showers and fog early Saturday, but that should give way to a beautiful day with highs near 70.

Sunday looks gorgeous as well with highs in the upper 60s.
