Rain Won't Stop Halloween in Salem, Mass.

Trick-or-treating in the "Witch City" will take place between 5 p.m. and 8 p.m.

With the forecast causing many communities in Massachusetts and New Hampshire to postpone Halloween celebrations, officials in one community say the rain won't stop them.

Officials in Salem, Massachusetts, said most evening activities will go on as planned despite predictions of strong winds and rain. A fireworks display, however, has been cancelled.

Trick-or-treating in the city will take place between 5 p.m. and 8 p.m.

Other evening activities include:

  • The American Vinyl Allstar Band on Salem Common
  • A stage and Notch beer garden at Charlotte Forten Park
  • A stage and Bent Water beer garden on Front Street
  • A stage and Lord Hobo beer garden on Washington Street
In addition to the fireworks, stages at Hawthorne Boulevard and on Washington Street at Front Street were cancelled because they are not covered.
As of Wednesday, the Salem Ferry was scheduled to run. However, passengers should check with Boston Harbor Cruises for cancellations.

So far, road closures have not been changed.
