Suspect Arrested in Raynham, Charged With Attempted Murder

A Massachusetts man wanted for attempted murder was arrested Friday.

Fifty-one-year-old John Davenport, of Quincy, was arrested and charged with attempted murder by knife after allegedly assaulting a female victim and stabbing her in the stomach earlier in the week.

She has not been identified at this time.

The Avon police department had advised Raynham officers on Friday afternoon to be on the lookout for a white Ford F150 truck with an attached camper that was likely being driven by the attempted murder suspect.

Officers subsequently located the truck and camper in a Walmart parking lot and contacted Avon police.

Raynham and Avon officers approached the camper and spoke with a woman, who has not been identified, inside.

She exited the camper to speak with officers and was removed from the area as officers initated a conversation with Davenport from inside the camper.

After a brief conversation, Davenport agreed to exit the camper and was placed into custody without further incident.

It's not immediately known if Davenport has an attorney or when he'll appear in court.

No other information was immediately available.
