Record Breaking Cold Temperatures in NH

New Hampshire's capitol city of Concord set a new cold weather record at minus-17 degrees.

New Hampshire's capitol city of Concord set a new cold weather record at minus-17 degrees.

Meteorologists at the National Weather Service in Gray, Maine say that temperature - recorded Saturday - is the coldest Feb. 21st on record in 146 years.

Concord is also in the running to set a record for the coldest February in that same 146 years, but forecasters predict it will barely miss the mark by a percentage of a degree.

Meteorologist Mike Kistner said Sunday that the seven-day forecast has Concord ending the month with an average temperature in February of 12.2 degrees, just over the record of 12 degrees set in 1934.

But Kistner also stressed it's a 7-day forecast and there may be some "wiggle room."
