Tuesday and Wednesday deliver two scorching days to New England, complete with haze, humidity and record-challenging temperatures.

Both days will see high temperatures of 95 to 100 degrees with heat index values over 100 degrees for the majority of Central and Southern New England. Northern New England will only be a few degrees behind.

Remarkably, there will be no thunderstorms Tuesday afternoon with the atmosphere lacking a sufficient cold/warm clash (it’s all warm!) for storms.

By Wednesday afternoon and evening, the chance of thunder rises in Northern New England as a cold front closes in from the north. That front will press slowly into Central and Southern New England on Thursday, elevating the chance of scattered thunder there.

Behind the late-week cold front, temperatures will turn cooler by Friday –- highs only in the 70s for many –- with much less humid air persisting through at least the first half of the Labor Day weekend.

Some showers can’t be ruled out Saturday. But after, warmth will gradually build back into the region with highs returning to the 80s by Labor Day with a chance of afternoon thunder.

Highs should hover near or just above 80 for much of next week in the exclusive Early Warning Weather 10-day forecast.
