Report: Boston Congestion to Increase by 2030

“A Better City,” a Boston business group, released its findings regarding what the metropolitan area will look like in 2030

Greater Boston is on the move with construction on almost every corner, raising the question: is the region prepared to handle all this new growth?

“A Better City,” a Boston business group, released its findings regarding what the metropolitan area will look like in 2030 and what kind of infrastructure will be need.

The report says the city will be more crowded and more congested, placing greater demands on transportation, energy, water and the environment, just to name a few.

Other predictions include 80,000 more cars on the roads, 14,000 more daily commuters on the MBTA and a 63-percent increase in passengers at Logan Airport.

Of course, there's a price associated with success. But what is, and how to pay for it perhaps remains the biggest question of all.

Regardless of the cost, A Better City thinks the political leadership is in place to do the right thing.
