The remains of 24-year-old Denise Hart of Hartford, Connecticut, were found in Vermont in December.

A Connecticut woman, whose body was found in Vermont after going missing last year, died from a gunshot wound to her head, officials said Monday.

The remains of 24-year-old Denise Hart of Hartford, Connecticut, were found in Vermont in December. She was last seen Jan. 25 leaving a friend's home in Sudbury.

The remains were found off the edge of Gap Road by a member of the public.

According to necn affiliate WPTZ, Hart’s death certificate says she was shot in the head.

Police have long suspected foul play in her disappearance. The borrowed car she was driving the night she was last seen was found on fire the next day in Cornwall.
