A Gorham, New Hampshire, man has been arrested in connection with a fatal shooting on Monday night.
Christopher Drouin, 25, is charged with second degree murder for knowingly causing the shooting death of 27-year-old Michael Welch, according to New Hampshire Attorney General Joseph Foster. Drouin is also charged with attempted murder for shooting at John Gillespie, 30, another man who was with Welch at the time of the incident.
The shooting occurred around 6:40 p.m. Monday in the area of Main and Park streets. Gorham Police were inside the police station at 20 Park St. when they heard gunshots. Responding on foot to Main Street, they found Welch lying on he sidewalk in front of Gorham Common Park, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Officers were immediately directed to a man leaving the scene, later identified as Drouin.
Drouin is scheduled to be arraigned around 3 p.m. Tuesday in Berlin District Court.
