Man Dies After Trying to Break Up Weekend Fight

Police say the victim sustained a head injury and was later pronounced dead at Boston Medical Center

Boston police are investigating the death of a Quincy man who died after suffering a head injury while trying to break up a fight.

Police say the man was injured in the city's Dorchester neighborhood at about 1:15 a.m. Sunday. He was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead. Autopsy results are pending and the investigation is ongoing.

There have been no arrests.

Authorities did not release the man's name, but his family identified him as Brian Hingston.

His wife said he was hit or pushed, fell back and hit his head.

The family in a statement said Hingston "was a devoted husband, father, son, brother" who enjoyed traveling and music and had previously run the Boston Marathon. The family called the death "senseless." His organs were donated.
