New England Patriots wide receiver Josh Gordon is being disciplined by the team for tardiness, according to an NFL Network Report.
The NFL Network's Ian Rapoport said the Patriots are expected to keep Gordon off the field for about a quarter before returning him to regular playing time.
The Patriots traded a fifth-round pick to the Cleveland Browns last month for Gordon, a talented but problematic receiver. The deal came together after the Browns reached a breaking point with Gordon, who has been suspended numerous times by the NFL for drug violations since Cleveland drafted him in 2012.
In his second season, Gordon led the league with 1,646 yards receiving and scored nine touchdowns. He had a memorable 80-yard TD catch against the Patriots, turning a short catch into an electrifying run on which he made New England's defenders appear to be standing still.
But he played fewer than a dozen games in the years that followed because of his off-field issues.
So far for the Patriots, he has made an impact, catching 13 passes for 224 yards and one touchdown in four games.
