The New England Patriots are signing former first-round wide receiver Corey Coleman, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.
Coleman signed a one year deal with the Patriots, making him their third receiver who was selected in the first round, Rapoport said. The team was thin at the wide receiver position following the suspension of Julian Edelman and the offseason departures of Brandin Cooks and Danny Amendola.
Coleman played college football at Baylor University and was drafted by the Cleveland Browns in the first round of the 2016 NFL Draft.
The news of his signing comes a day after Rapoport reported that running back Jeremy Hill is out for the season with a torn ACL. Hill hurt his knee in Sunday's season opener vs. the Houston Texans after carrying the ball four times for 25 yards.
The Patriots beat the Texans 27-20 on Sunday to open the 2018 season with a win.
The Patriots head to Florida next to face the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 2 in a rematch of last season's AFC Championship Game. Kickoff is at 4:30 p.m. on Sunday.
