Reputed Mobster Sentenced for Marijuana Distribution

Louis DiNunzio was sentenced Tuesday in federal court in Boston after pleading guilty in September

A reputed member of the New England Mafia living in suburban Boston was sentenced to serve 1 ½ years in federal prison for his role in a large-scale marijuana distribution ring.

The Boston Globe reports 29-year-old Louis DiNunzio was sentenced Tuesday in federal court in Boston after pleading guilty in September to charges of conspiring to distribute marijuana.

Prosecutors say DiNunzio and three other men conspired to smuggle in large amounts of high-grade marijuana from California to Massachusetts between July 2013 and February 2014.

Among the shipments imported were 23 pounds of potent marijuana known as "Skywalker," which prosecutors say generated about $20,000 profit for the group.

A sentencing recommendation from prosecutors said DiNunzio was "responsible for between 40 and 60 kilograms" of marijuana.
