Retired Boxer Vinny Paz Wanted for Alleged Assault on Man in Providence

Police in Rhode Island are searching for retired boxing champ Vinny Paz following an alleged assault late Monday night in Providence.

A police report obtained by the Providence Journal showed that Paz, 55, of Warwick, is wanted by police on a felony assault charge.

Paz, who is also known as Vinny "The Pazmanian Devil" Pazienza, reportedly showed up to a Hawkins Street apartment at about 11:30 p.m. and accused a man of stealing $16,000.

As an argument ensued, it reportedly escalated into a fight.

A witness said Paz and his girlfriend, who went with him to the apartment, then fled the scene when the victim and another witness said they were calling police, according to the Providence Journal.

Authorities told the Providence Journal that the victim suffered several broken teeth, a black eye and bites on his left hand.

Paz responded to the accusations on social media Tuesday just before noon.

"STOP WITH BS STORY STOP !!!!!" he wrote on Twitter.

Anyone with information on Paz's whereabouts is asked to call Providence police.
