These Children With Mobility Issues Just Got Specially Tailored Toy Cars

A group of Rhode Island college students are going the extra mile to help children with mobility issues.

WJAR reports that students at the New England Institute of Technology are taking part in a program called Go Baby Go, which is dedicated to adjusting toys for children with disabilities.

The students spent months modifying toy cars to make them more functional for three local children with complex mobility issues. They studied the children’s movements to assess what adjustments were needed, WJAR reports.

For one Warwick girl, the students equipped a toy car with a button that lets her drive since the child reportedly is unable to walk or use pedals.

The school says it hopes to continue to program, completing projects twice a year.
