RI Deer Hunting Licenses to Go On Sale

Rhode Island deer hunting licenses are about to go on sale.

The state Department of Environmental Management will begin selling permits for the deer hunting season Thursday.

Permits are sold as antlered deer, or buck, permits or antlerless deer permits. Hunters must have the appropriate permit in their possession to legally harvest any deer.

The agency is also selling its limited "all outdoors" permits, which allows hunters to take up to seven deer during the seasons in both state hunting zones.

Permits are available from the agency's website or from local sales agents.

The hunting season kicks off with a youth archery season in Zone 1 on Sept. 7 and 8, followed by the Sept. 15 opener for all archers in Zone 1.
