Rhode Island Man Accused of Murder Admits to Gun, Drug Charges

A Cranston, Rhode Island, man who authorities say is a YNIC gang member has pleaded guilty in federal court to charges that he was trafficking cocaine and heroin.

Antonio Fortes admitted Tuesday to having substances containing heroin and cocaine with the intent to distribute as well as being a felon in possession of a Colt Mark 4 .45-caliber pistol. He is scheduled to be sentenced in December.

The 25-year-old Fortes is also one of four people implicated in the October 2014 murder of Terry Robinson. Robinson was killed shortly after watching a suspected gang member plead not guilty to another murder.

The men face charges of murder and discharging a firearm while committing a violent crime resulting in death, among others. They pleaded not guilty to those charges and are awaiting trial.
