A Rhode Island state trooper was treated for his injuries after his cruiser was involved in a crash Friday night, according to state police.
At 7:23 p.m., the officer was responding to the report of a rollover accident on Route 295 in Cranston. The officer observed the crash in the shoulder of the high speed lane and tried to move into the left travel lane. A vehicle ahead of trooper began to break hard and suddenly and the trooper swerved to avoid the vehicle, striking the snow-covered shoulder.
The trooper was treated at Rhode Island Hospital and released. Icy roads may have been a factor in the crash.
