Rhode Island Woman Arrested for Driving Under Influence, Driving Wrong Way

The incident occurred early Morning

A Woonsocket, Rhode Island, woman was arrested for Driving Under the Influence of Intoxicating Liquor or Drugs while traveling the wrong way on Route 295 north in Johnston, Rhode Island.

According to police, Jadali Burgess, age 21, of 902 Mendon Road, Woonsocket, was traveling south on Route 295 north around 2:58 a.m.

As a state trooper approached Exit 6B he noticed the car traveling towards him and was able to stop the vehicle in the low speed breakdown lane.

He said Burgess displayed signs of impairment and asked her to perform a series of field sobriety tests which she failed.

He transported her to Rhode Island State Police Headquarters where she was held overnight.

She was arraigned in Third District Court and pled not guilty.

Burgess was released on personal recognizance with court-mandated alcohol screenings.

She will appear in court again on August 23.
