Rhode Island Woman Killled in Fatal Accident

A 24-year-old Rhode Island woman is dead after a fatal two vehicle accident that occurred in North Providence early Saturday morning.

Just after 1:35 a.m. Meghan Soltys, of Lincoln, was driving at a high rate of speed in the low speed lane on Route 146 North, just north of Mineral Spring Avenue, when she was unable to slow down and rear ended a BMW in that lane.

The collision caused the car to lose control, veer to the left and hit the concrete center divider.  The Nissan then rolled over, ejecting Soltys.  It finally came to a stop on its roof facing south in the left shoulder.

The BMW continued to travel north in the low speed lane where it came to a rolling stop in the right breakdown lane.

The accident is under investigation.
