Road Closures in Place for Boston Pops Fireworks Spectacular

The Boston Pops Fireworks Spectacular draws hundreds of thousands of people to the hatch shell every year. With all of that foot traffic, how will you get there?

Driving to the Charles River Esplanade to see the show is going to be a no go as most local streets will be closed.

The city is shutting down major roads like Storrow Drive.

At 7 a.m. Storrow Drive will be closed from Leverett Circle to Kenmore Square.

On ramps will close from Charles Street Circle and from Beacon and Arlington streets.

At 4 p.m., Memorial Drive will close from Massachusetts Avenue to the Longfellow Bridge. Both bridges will then close, as well. There will be no fireworks viewing allowed from either the Longfellow or Mass Ave Bridge.

Your best bet to get to the show is to take the T. Rush hour service starts at 2 p.m. You can catch free rides home after 9:30.

The T stations closest to the fireworks show are Charles MGH on the red line and Arlington Street on the green line.

If you're walking, remember to stay hydrated with very hot weather on tap.

Viewing of fireworks from Interstate 93 is prohibited.

All roadways will remain closed until the Department of Conservation and Recreation has an opportunity to clean them up.
