    Police Investigate Deadly Shooting in Rochester

    Authorities in Rochester, New Hampshire, are investigating a shooting death.

    An investigation is underway in Rochester, New Hampshire, after a deadly shooting overnight.

    Details are limited, but NBC10 Boston has learned that there were two groups of people involved in the incident, and that one woman was shot and killed. As of Wednesday night, the person who pulled the trigger was still on the loose.

    "It's scary," said Virginia Tripp.

    Tripp was out for her morning stroll on South Main Street when she learned that a woman was shot and killed along this same route just hours ago.

    "It makes me nervous," she said.

    Authorities say around midnight Wednesday, Police got a call for shots fired near Friendly's in Rochester.

    When officers arrived, they found a woman suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. She died at a nearby hospital.

    "I do work at Friendly's, so it is kind of shocking that it happened, like, right outside," said restaurant employee Jacob Rogers.

    Early Wednesday afternoon, a canine with Boston ATF was sniffing the grounds at the Rochester Public Library and at a home on Lafayette Street, about a half mile from the shooting scene.

    "Nothing surprises me around here," said Lafayette Street resident Laurie Pearson.

    She says it's a violent part of the city, and while she's used to seeing police around, she knows very little about what's going on because she keeps to herself.

    "In this neighborhood, it's better that way," Pearson said.

    Back on South Main, Tripp tells us after three years in Rochester, enough is enough.

    "This is not what I wanted, I wanted a peaceful, quiet existence," she said. "I'm looking for a new place to live."

    Authorities aren't yet releasing the victim's name because they're still notifying her family.

    An autopsy was scheduled for Wednesday afternoon.
