A selectman from Rockland, Massachusetts, has resigned amid an allegation he lied about his involvement in a town hall sex scandal.
Edward Kimball submitted his letter of resignation to Town Clerk Donna Shortall Tuesday morning, Shortall confirmed to NBC10 Boston.
According to the Patriot Ledger, residents had filed an affidavit last week to recall Kimball saying he violated the Massachusetts Open Meeting Law by getting involved in an investigation of sexual misconduct between then-Selectwoman Deidre Hall and Town Administrator Allan Chiocca.
Chiocca had been placed on administrative leave in May after Hall accused him of participating in inappropriate behavior toward her.
She resigned three weeks ago after an investigation determined that she actually used her position to pressure Chiocca into sexual activity. The town released surveillance footage from the night in question.
Kimball was also allegedly involved with Hall, as well as the coverup.
"He started the investigation and was lying to us from the beginning," fellow Selectman Larry Ryan had said.

Rockland's three remaining selectmen are scheduled to meet Tuesday night to discuss the appointment of an interim town administrator.
