Sail Boston Continues With Patriot Run, Wreath Laying Ceremony

Sail Boston festivities continued on Sunday following Saturday's Grand Parade of Sail in the inner harbor.

More than 200 sailors took part in the Patriot Run - from the North Jetty pier to Christopher Columbus Park and back early Sunday morning.

After the run, a Sail Boston service was held at the Chapel of Our Lady of Good Voyage on Seaport Boulevard in Boston. All crews associated with the tall ships as well as guests were invited to attend.

At the Massachusetts Fallen Heroes Memorial, the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Marine Corps accompanied by Naval forces from Canada, Chile, Ecuador and Peru, laid five wreathes in honor of the men and women from Massachusetts who served in Iraq and Afghanistan and gave their lives for our nation.

Seven yellow roses were also laid the at the South Boston memorial to honor the seven sailors who were killed when the USS Fitzgerald collided a merchant vessel earlier this weekend in the waters off Japan.

Sail Boston 2017 continues until June 22 when the 56 ships from 13 nations depart the harbor. The public can board the ships at the various piers from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. at the Boston Fish Pier, World Trade Center, Fan Pier and the Charlestown Navy Yard.
