Salem Man Facing Charges After Pulling Out a Knife on MBTA Train

A Salem, Massachusetts man is facing charges after pulling out a knife and threatening to harm people on an MBTA commuter rail train on Halloween night.

MBTA Transit Police on assignment for Salem’s Haunted Happenings placed Christopher Leclerc, 25, into custody after receiving a radio call around 6:45 p.m. about an unruly male on the train at the Salem Commuter Rail station.

Leclerc was allegedly intimidating passengers, challenging people to fist fights, consuming alcohol and invading others’ personal space in an aggressive manner, according to witnesses. Leclerc pulled out the knife when a fellow passenger tried to calm down him down.

Officers recovered the knife and found prescription narcotics in someone else's name on Leclerc.

Leclerc is charged with assault by means of a dangerous weapon and possession of Class E drugs.

It was not immediately known if he had a lawyer.
