Sam Adams Looking to Open Downtown Boston Tap Room

Boston Beer Co. is looking to open a Samuel Adams tap room in downtown Boston, according to the Boston Business Journal.

Founder Jim Koch told the BBJ that he's looking at several downtown locations, including the vacant Hillstone restaurant near Fanueil Hall.

City officials said they have had preliminary discussions with Boston Beer Co. representatives about developing a taproom and retail space, and Koch said the company has already hired an architect.

Koch said there is no timeline for opening the downtown taproom at this point.

Last month, Samuel Adams opened a new taproom at its Jamaica Plain location. The brewery also has a pub at Boston Logan International Airport and will open two Sam Adams bar areas at Fenway Park next year.
