Santa and Elves Parachuting Stunt Goes Awry in Quincy

Santa has a bad landing that results in a broken leg

A holiday parachuting stunt in Quincy, Mass. went off script, resulting in an injured Santa.

During the stunt Santa parachuted off course and broke his leg. Santa was followed by two elves that managed to land safely, albeit one elf landed off course, as well.

Santa was taken by ambulance to Boston Medical Center and treated for a broken left leg.

Barry Welch is the event organizer and says this is the 40th year for the Santa and Elves jump. Welch attributes this year's miscue to wind.

There was a backup plan for such a mishap. According to Welch, after the injured Santa was put in the ambulance, a backup Santa emerged so as not to upset the children in the audience.
