A suspect has been arrested in a home invasion after an investigation that prompted the lockdown of an elementary school Friday in Billerica, Massachusetts.
A resident told police just before 12:30 p.m. that a masked man had broken into his home on Maplewood Avenue with a knife. Police say the suspect fled as soon as he realized someone was home.
Police arrested 26-year-old Jonathan Aquino after following leads on a burglary they say took place on the same street in the last few days.
K-9 units from Chelmsford, Burlington and Wilmington assisted Billerica Police while the Massachusetts State Police Air Wing helicopter searched, as well.
Dutile Elementary School was sheltered in place and buses were delayed while police searched for the suspect.
