A Bridgeport man has been sentenced to 55 years in prison after pleading guilty to killing his parents. Officials said he killed Jeffrey and Jeanette Navin after they threatened to cut him out of their wills.

The bodies of Jeffrey and Jeanette Navin, of Easton, were found in Weston in 2015, two months after they disappeared.

Court documents state the couple was upset about their son's behavior and drug use and planned to cut him out of their wills.

Navin had previously pleaded not guilty and the case was set to go to trial, but he pleaded guilty in court to two counts of murder.

In court Friday, the judge called the crime "horrific."

Navin's attorney, Eugene Riccio, said his client could have been convicted of murder under special circumstances, which would have meant a life sentence. By pleading guilty they've agreed to a 55-year sentence.

Navin was sentenced to two concurrent 55-year-sentences.

Online court records say Kyle Navin's girlfriend, Jennifer Valiante, is due back in court on Aug. 1  in connection with the case. She had pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit murder and second-degree hindering prosecution. She remains behind bars on a $2 million bond.
