Serial Robber From Rhode Island Sentenced

Zachary Alvarado robbed several cellphone stores and shot 4 people

A serial robber from Rhode Island described by a judge as a "one-man crime spree" has been sentenced to serve 35 years in prison without the possibility of parole.

Twenty-year-old Zachary Alvarado was sentenced Wednesday for the robbery of several cellphone stores in Woonsocket and the shooting of four people in a separate incident.

Prosecutors say an armed Alvarado robbed a Metro PCS store on Main Street three times in March and April.

Alvarado was also convicted of robbing another Metro PCS location on Social Street on June 13. Six days after that robbery, prosecutors say Alvarado shot four people outside Aly's Riverside Pub.

None of the shots were fatal and Alvarado turned himself in the following day. He pleaded guilty to charges stemming from the multiple incidents in March.
