Several children were treated for injuries after an accident involving a school bus and a car in Woonsocket, Rhode Island, police say.

Woonsocket Police responded to the scene Monday morning at Willow and Welles Streets around 9 a.m.

A Valley Transportation Corp. school bus carrying 31 children ranging in ages 7 to 11 collided with a car.

Five students on the bus and two children from the car were taken to Landmark Medical Center with minor injuries.

The driver of the car, Melissa Escomilha, of Woonsocket, is being charged with driving on a suspended license and leaving the scene of an accident with injuries.

The accident remains under investigation.
