Severe delays were reported on the Red Line in both directions Monday.
MBTA officials said the delays were a result of a speed restriction after earlier track work on the Longfellow Bridge.
The delays were initially reported around 8 a.m. As of 10 a.m., only moderate delays were being reported. The delays are expected to impact the evening commute as well, the MBTA told Boston.com.
As usual, the delays prompted many riders to take to Twitter to vent their frustrations.

I guess that plan of getting to work early to get stuff done before a lengthy meeting was pretty foolish. Well played, #MBTA. #RedLine — Christine Frost (@Shahrazad1001) January 25, 2016
