Shelter to Deliver Pets on Christmas

The New Hampshire SPCA will deliver animals within a 15 mile radius of its Stratham shelter on Christmas morning

While many animal shelters discourage people from giving pets as Christmas gifts, one shelter in New Hampshire is doing the opposite and going all out with special Christmas morning deliveries.

The New Hampshire SPCA will deliver animals within a 15 mile radius of its Stratham shelter on Christmas morning. The staff's "honorary elves" will be wearing Santa hats, and pets will arrive with gift packs and a letter from Santa Claus.

Director Lisa Dennison says the option is available only for certain animals. For example, cats or dogs that are shy or frightened would not likely make smooth transitions.

The shelter's customary adoption procedures still apply, and there is an extra fee for the delivery service.
