Guests like Sei Nakamura and his family, vacationing from Japan, were evacuated from the fifth floor while police gathered evidence from the scene.

"I woke up at the fire alarm," recalled Nakamura. "There was a lot of police officers and firefighters. And they had guns so... in Japan there are no guns so I was very scared."

After being questioned, guests were allowed to return to their rooms.

"The fire alarm was pulled, you know. It was a bit of a hectic scene," Evans said.

Police said two suspects were spotted fleeing the scene but so far, no arrests have been made. Investigators are now reviewing hotel surveillance video.

Authorities also said they do not believe the shooting was random.

"We're looking at that this wasn't a random act by any means," said Evans. "He was targeted in that room."
